Ragamuffin Roots Campaign

Life’s busy, work’s busy, you’re busy. It isn’t hard to see how someone can get distracted from just about anything. Unfortunately, this means we even get distracted from some of the really important things that make us who we are. Caught up in the daily grind, we are artists who haven’t painted in years, family men and women who never see their families and historians who can’t remember where we came from. We need to take the time out to focus on those little things because they are the source of our identity and the brushes we use to make our unique mark upon the world. They’re the roots that keep us grounded, allowing us to grow upwards and branch outwards. Well if you haven’t watered your roots lately, now’s the perfect time to start.

Ragamuffin is going on this journey too. Over the coming months, we’re getting back to our roots. First, this means strong, frequent, bold, conscious designs. Second, it means you. There have always been committed change agents, like Toree Elston-Moore, one of our first supporters and sales people, at the root of Ragamuffin’s success. So over the next few months, we’re going to find more ways to get people like you and him, members of Ragamuffin’s immediate family, involved. We want more of your feedback on our messages before they hit the shelves. We also want to call attention to some of your everyday heroics, because the shirt doesn’t move until you put it on. And we don’t want anyone to ever forget, it’s more than a t-shirt, it’s a movement.

Spread Love

One of Ragamuffin's classic designs is Spread Love. The message is both simple and powerful. What do you do on a daily basis to spread love? I believe kind acts and generosity are the matter that hold the world together - it's the balancing element that keeps us from utter chaos.

Imagine, we live in a world where war, murder and unimaginable abuse is a constant. These atrocities must be countered with love. When a father high fives his son and compliments his smarts, he is instilling a love deep within his son. This love manifests as confidence and may in turn help this boy to become a successful and loving man. Similarly, when a good samaritan provides lunch for a homeless person, they are proclaiming that love can champion all situations. This small act of generosity, can overshadow the homeless person's ills for the time being and provide him with a better day and a more optimistic outlook. Eventually, this small token of love can blossom into the factor that gives the homeless person enough hope to alter their circumstance.

Love is powerful. "Love is always patient; love is always kind; love is never envious or arrogant with pride. Nor is she conceited."

February photo shoot

On a rainy, February day in Northern California, a few members of the Ragamuffin family gathered with a simple purpose; to recapture the spirit behind Ragamuffin Clothing without saying a word. We started out by talking about the vibe, the look we were going for. But before long, it was obvious that nothing needed to be said. To go forward with explaining our “vibe” would have been like pressing forth with the answer to a rhetorical question. For the vibe from which Ragamuffin grew, doesn’t need explaining to those who don its message.

Ragamuffin is a thriving, young artist by the name of Netta B (http://www.myspace.com/nettabmusic), turning dreams into reality. It’s Bush-T, a talented photographer, pursuing his passion. Ragamuffin is the beauty and strength, inside and out, of the Abeje’s, Arthur’s and Yahya’s of the world.

At some point between the creation of a design and that design catching the eye of someone who will wear it, the two become synonymous. You are Bold, you are Conscious, you are Fly…you are Ragamuffin.

I continue to be amazed at all this company stands for. Each member of our family is a part of that message. Ragamuffin is moving forward y’all so stay on the lookout, more to come…
